Nick's Fish

I forgot to bring a Christmas present to a secret Santa party last December so filled out a card with an IOU for a free painting. The winner wanted this moment immortalized. Don't tell anyone, but I made the fish A LOT BIGGER. All kidding aside, what attracted me to this image was the muted colors. I wanted to feel the chill in the air.

Spring Air Fair Poster

This poster for the Pioneer Flight Air Museum is patterned on a 1930s air race poster. Since our museum is located in central Texas I inserted a cactus. It's pallet is limited to 3 colors so we could get screen prints made to sell for our fund raising efforts.

Japan revisited

I revisited the painting I did in 1977 (see page one of this blog). I hope to return to these props from time to time. The composition is slightly more sophisticated than my high school version.

Hannah's Painting

This was done for a beautiful new born named Hannah Fearheiley. Her mom wanted a Noah's Ark theme, but set in the Rockies, then it was up to me to work out the details. I wanted the image to be colorful and energetic. Also, I felt that these animals would be the first animals little Hannah would see and would remember for the rest of her life so they had to be good.

Tom Ballard

I am working on a portrait of a co-worker. He's a good sport and posed for me on the condition that I not show him or talk about it until its done. My huge ego compels me to show off the work I'm proud of, hence the post prior to finishing it.

The neck tie didn't quite gel....
